Applied gate valve types

• wedge gate valve;
parallel gate valve.
The parallel gate valve differs from the wedge gate valve by the trim sealing surface located in the parallel position, and not at an angle.

Option one is a shut-off unit where passages are closed by moving members that are perpendicular to the passing flow. This type of gate valve is very common for pipes used to carry the following media:

• water;
• steam;
• oil;
• ammonia;
• certain petroleum products.

In wedge-type products sealing surfaces are located at an angle to one another. The wedges may be:

• solid, flexible;
• solid, rigid;
• or be essentially two plates coated with high-grade steel. This feature allows to replace the gland packing during installation or operation.
